Yoga Fundamentals Course (4-weeks)

This fundamental course is designed for those who are complete beginners to yoga or who are fairly new to the practice. We will develop a foundation for the physical practice, including postural assessment, basic alignment techniques, contraindications and common mistakes. We will also cover general history of yoga, basic mantra and breathing techniques (pranayama). In each semi-private workshop, you will receive a handout including pictures and names of the poses as well as time for Q&A at the end.
The goal of this course is to give you confidence you’ve always wanted in your asana practice to start your own home practice or attend larger group classes. Join us to create a solid foundation for your practice or jumpstart your VITALITY in the New Year!
This course will include:
-posture & tendencies that bring us out of proper alignment
-common injuries & misalignments of each pose (asana)
-alignment techniques for beginner & intermediate asanas
-asana photos & names (English/Sanskrit)
We will also discuss the basic yoga principles from a philosophical point of view and include topics such as the history of yoga, pranayama or breath work, Sanskrit and meditation.
Each course will end with a 15-min Q&A and review of what was presented in class. Each student will also be provided with take-home worksheets and email support throughout the course.
